Kosovo

Kosovo declared its independence in February of 2008. Since then a new EU mission (EULEX) has been installed in the country with a mandate to oversee rule of law and the new country’s accession to the European Union.

Although relatively small, Kosovo possesses a significant share of the region's mineral resources including the Trepča complex which is one of the world’s largest accumulations of lead, zinc and silver and includes seven mines, three zinc concentrators and a zinc refinery.

The mining law in Kosovo is of an international standard and is independently monitored.

Lydian, through its subsidiary company Kosovo Resource Company, is the only active foreign mineral exploration company in Kosovo.
