Rahovec (Kosovo)

The Rahovec area is dominated by mafic and ultamafic ophiolitic rocks which are host to a number of mineral occurrences that include nickel, cobalt, copper, chrome and bauxite. The area has been intermittently explored from the late 1950's to early 1970's and no recent geological exploration of the occurrences is known to have occurred.

Lydian's wholly owned local subsidiary Kosovo Resource Company is currently carrying out a soil sampling, reconnaissance rock chip sampling and trenching over a newly identified copper-gold prospect in an area that was previously explored for nickel and chrome. This preliminary work will be followed by ground geophysics and a diamond drilling programme in early 2008.

Work in Progress

Results from reconnaissance rock-chip and soil sampling to date have identified a gossanous gold anomalous zone of some 1km in strike length and 100m in width (open along strike) with a maximum soil geochemical result of 1.89ppm Au and rock-chip results of up 7.9g/t gold and 0.9% copper.

Trenching has identified a central zone of breccia and replacement style mineralisation (magnetite skarn) with the most encouraging trench result to-date being 64m @ 0.94g/t gold (copper results awaited).
